St Joseph College of Communication (SJCC) is the first university affiliated Media College in South India and was founded in August 2004.
It is a Christian minority self-financing education institution affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India. A natural fallout of the ensuing debate as to whether or not animation and multimedia is an art or science, has been the tendency of a few institutions to offer animation and multimedia courses as BSc Animation, BSc Multimedia, BSc Visual Communication, etc. SJCC is the first of its kind in South India offering career oriented courses in BA Multimedia, BA Animation & Graphic Design, BA Visual Arts, BA Visual Communication, BA Audiography etc
The College is open to all students irrespective of caste and creed; they are accepted and cherished as they are and are helped to grow in their cultural, social and religious tradition. It also aims at creating a just and humane society where dignity of the human person is respected, and unjust social structures are challenged, where a cultural heritage of Ahimsa, religious harmony and national integration are upheld, and the poor and the downtrodden are specially taken care of.
